A Kroger Marketplace along with several other businesses will open in the Shops at Katy Reserve on Oct. 16. Houston-based NewQuest Properties is developing the 39.8-acre project on the east and west sides of the FM 1463-Spring Creek Boulevard intersection, about half a mile south of Interstate 10. It is near the communities of Reserve at Katy, Firethorne and Woodcreek Reserve.
“There are about 3,300 high-end homes in a one-mile radius and another 1,200 projected to be built next year,” Rachael Keener, a NewQuest associate, said in a statement. Keener is partnering with Bob Conwell, vice president, on project leasing.
In addition to the 122,043-square-foot Kroger Marketplace, the first phase of the Shops at Katy Reserve includes Russo’s New York Pizzeria, Massage Envy, Subway, SHSalon, Katy Dental Star, Tender Touch Nails and Postal Plus. Additionally, a 12,600-square-foot building leased to VertsKepab, Great Clips, Royale Retreat, Nail Spa, Lash Studio and a dry cleaners will also open on Oct. 16.
NewQuest currently is preleasing phase two of the development.
Houston firms Osborn & Vane Architects Inc. and Otwell Construction are the architect and general contractor on the project, respectively. Houston-based Terra Associates Inc. and Stafford-based Texas Engineering & Mapping provided engineering services. Judy Hunter, John Campbell, Chris Ostermanand Stan Beard, all with NewQuest, handled construction oversight and project management.
Separately, NewQuest announced last week it will develop another Kroger-anchored shopping center in the Katy area.
