Managing Real Estate Attorney
John S. Moody, Jr. is Board Certified in Commercial Real Estate, by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has extensive experience in real estate development, leasing, acquisitions, sales, and financing. He represents developers, owners, families, financial institutions, investors, retailers, and private equity funds in acquisitions, sales, development, leasing, financing, and construction of all types of real estate.
Julie Barry is Board Certified in Commercial Real Estate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and practices extensively in the area of transaction law, focusing primarily on the representation of small and mid-sized enterprises. Her practice includes representation of purchasers and sellers in the acquisition and disposition of businesses and real estate; lenders and borrowers in connection with commercial and real estate loans; and landlords and tenants in connection with leasing matters.

Kelly Beaudry is Board Certified in Commercial Real Estate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She started her career working in public relations in New York and Austin. Kelly went to law school at the University of Houston Law Center, where she concentrated her studies on real estate, corporate and probate law. In 2005, she became an associate at Brackett & Ellis, P.C., a law firm in Fort Worth, Texas, where she continued her focus on real estate and business law. After five years with Brackett & Ellis, Kelly moved to Houston and began practicing real estate law with John S. Moody, Jr., where she continues to enjoy working with clients on a range of real estate transactions, including purchase and sale transactions, land development, leasing and loan-related work.

Tania Hovel’s practice focuses primarily on commercial transactions, including retail, office and industrial leasing, acquisitions, sales and development, finance and general corporate matters. Among those she has counseled and represented include developers, high-net worth individuals, family-owned businesses and private firms and investors in the preparation and negotiation of various types of agreements in connection with the ownership and development of real estate and business formation. Tania began her legal career as an associate in the Global Projects section of Baker Botts, L.L.P. in Dallas, Texas, where she primarily advised clients in the real estate industry on both corporate and real estate matters.

Gwen Smith joined Moody Law Group PLLC as a contract attorney in 2012; and became of counsel with the firm earlier this year. Gwen has an extensive background in commercial real estate law with a focus on leasing. Gwen’s background and experience in commercial real estate leasing is a tremendous resource to our clients and our firm. Prior to joining Moody Law Group, Gwen worked with several law firms and corporations, including Weingarten Realty Investors and Nathan Sommers Jacobs, where she focused on retail, restaurant and shopping center leasing.
Renee Zeller joined Moody Law Group, PLLC in 2017 as Senior Paralegal. Before joining Moody Law Group, Renee spent 17 years with Academy Sports + Outdoors in various roles and most recently as Director of Legal Assistants. Before her career with Academy, she also worked as a Paralegal with Baker Hughes and Bracewell & Patterson. She draws on invaluable years of real estate and commercial transaction experience to provide efficient and cost-effective project management and support to our clients and attorneys.
Laura Chesser joined Moody Law Group, PLLC in 2011 as Office Manager. Laura’s background includes serving as an Accounts Receivable Supervisor and Assistant to the President of METCO Environmental Services, Inc. and as a book keeper and property manager for Andrew Enlow Company in Dallas. Laura has extensive experience in bookkeeping, client services, tax filings, payroll, invoicing and financial reporting.
Sonia Armstrong is the firm’s paralegal. She assists attorneys with all aspects of the firm’s practice, which include commercial acquisition and sale transactions, and commercial leasing. Day-today, she prepares documents, assists with due diligence review, the resolution of title and survey issues, and transaction closings. She believes people are hard-wired to help others, and deeply values relationships — mantras that are fundamentally in line with our attitude towards what we do and our pledge to better support clients.
Sonia has been a paralegal for ten years. Before she joined our team she worked as a litigation paralegal in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. She brings a lot of energy and versatility to the team.
